PlaNet Finance is an international non-governmental organization that works to alleviate poverty worldwide through the development of microfinance. Operating in over 60 countries, PlaNet Finance is recognized as one of the fastest growing and most dynamic organizations in the field.

To date PlaNet Finance has helped over 1,500 microfinance institutions and reached more than 10 million people around the world. Microfinance is a means of providing financial services to people lacking access to traditional banking or other sources of capital. These small, non-collateralized loans are used to develop microenterprises and improve the lives of both microentrepreneurs and their communities.

In order to enhance the microfinance sector PlaNet Finance has four divisions of services:

1. Consulting and Technical Assistance : to strengthen the capacity of the microfinance sector such as microfinance institutions (MFI), banks, governments, professional networks and microentrepreneurs.
2. Financial Consulting : to help increase credit lines and MFI growth.
3. Planet Rating : Through ratings, Planet Rating provides transparency to the sector and facilitates fundraising for MFIs.
4. MicroCred : is a network of microfinance institutions that directly provides financial services to the poor people aspiring to be microentrepreneurs.
